How Valueable Is Your Data

In today's world, computers are the backbone of nearly every company. When these computers fail, it's generally not long after that the business will fail. According to the National Archives & Records Administration in Washington, D.C., 93% of companies that lost their data center for 10 or more days due to a disaster filed for bankruptcy within one year. That is a staggering figure, and it really puts the value of data in perspective. Keep in mind this data doesn't necessarily have to be multi-million dollar designs, or proprietary software developments, it can be as simple as Word Documents, Email, customer databases, spreadsheets, etc. Without this information, it's hard for many businesses to survive.

If you have lost your data, the first thing you need to do is remain calm. Taking your frustration out on employees or co-workers will not help. You need to consider the actual value of the data. What was lost? How long would it take you to recreate the data? How long can your business continue without it? All of these questions and their subsequent answers help you to put a price tag on the data. What is it going to cost you if you can't get this information back?

Knowing the answers to these questions will generally help you to know how to proceed. When people lose data the first thing they try to do is make an attempt at getting it back. This may mean having your IT department work with whatever recovery tools they may have at their disposel. Unfortunately, there are very few, if any, IT technicians that are experienced with proper data recovery protocol. If the data is not that important, or it can easily be recreated, then by all means make whatever attempts are necessary. However, if the data is critical to your business, it is vitally important that you call a data recovery professional right away, even if you decide not to utilize our services here at ACS Data Recovery, make sure you contact another reputable company. In many cases, a data recovery professional is the ONLY option for getting your data back.

Here at ACS Data Recovery, we know how important the data is to each of our customers. We exhaust every possible option in order to recover your data, and we do it as safely as possible in order to not make the situation any worse than it already is. We may have to perform a head swap on a hard drive, or we may have to perform two or three of them before we finally get all the data needed. The point is, we do whatever it takes. There are many companies out there that offer rediculously cheap recovery service, but to do the work necessary it is impossible for their business model to work. Sure it's easy to get in a hard drive, run a test on it, and five minutes later say it's unrecoverable. However, in many cases the data is still perfectly recoverable, but there is no one solution that works every time in every situation.

If your data is valueable, make sure you send your crashed media to a data recovery provider who will go the extra mile for you. Check references, check out what others have to say about them online, ask questions, and make sure you feel at ease with them. If your business is down because of data loss, don't compound the problem by sending it somewhere that may not have the experience necessary to get your data back.
